Home School Players (“HSP,” “we,” “us”) is a homeschool theater program for young people in the Chattanooga, Tennessee area, operating as a program of CSTHEA, a chapter of the Tennessee Home Education Association. This policy explains what information we collect from families and website visitors, how we use it, and the choices you have. Because HSP serves children, much of the information we handle is about minors and is provided to us by their parents or guardians.

Who we are
Home School Players (CSTHEA Gilbert & Sullivan Homeschool Players), Chattanooga, Tennessee. Our website is https://homeschoolplayers.com. You can reach us about anything in this policy at [email protected].
Information we collect
From families who register or participate. When a student joins HSP or your family interacts with us, we collect information you give us such as the student’s and parent’s names, your email address and phone number, and details needed to run the program. We collect this through registration forms, audition materials, and direct communication with you.
Payments and donations. We use Zeffy to collect registration fees, ticket sales, ad purchases, and donations, and to keep a contact list. When you pay or sign up through Zeffy, Zeffy collects your name, email, and payment information directly; HSP can see transaction records and contact details but does not receive or store full card numbers. Zeffy processes card payments and sends email through its own service providers. See Zeffy’s privacy policy at https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/privacy-policy.
Newsletter and interest sign-ups. If you ask to be notified about HSP (for example, through the subscribe form on our site or by giving us your email at an event) we keep your email address on our contact list so we can send program news. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in our emails or by contacting us.
Website visitors. Like most websites, ours automatically receives basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you view. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used; Google sets cookies to do this. Our site is served through Cloudflare and runs on WordPress with the Jetpack and Wordfence services, which process limited technical data (including IP addresses) to deliver, speed up, and protect the site. Images on the site are delivered through Jetpack’s image service.
Contact form. If you use the contact form on our site, we receive the name, email, and message you submit, along with basic technical details, and we store those submissions so we can respond. Submissions are screened for spam by an automated service (Akismet).
How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- run the theater program — registration, casting, scheduling, communication, and events;
- process payments, ticket sales, and donations;
- send you program news, updates, and things you’ve signed up for;
- respond to your questions; and
- operate, secure, and improve our website.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s advertising.
Where your information is stored and who we share it with
HSP is run by volunteers using a small set of common services. Your information may be stored or processed by:
- Google (Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Forms) — where we send and receive email, keep registration information, forms, and program records. See Google’s privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
- Zeffy (payments, ticketing, email, and contact list) — and its payment and email service providers.
- Our website providers — WordPress / Jetpack (Automattic), Wordfence, and Cloudflare — which help host, secure, and deliver the site.
- Google Analytics — for website usage statistics.
We share information with these providers only so they can perform these services for us. We may also share information within CSTHEA as needed to operate HSP as one of its programs. We will disclose information if required by law.
Children’s information and photos
HSP is a program for young people, so most participant information is about children and is provided to us by a parent or guardian. We ask that registration and communication with HSP be handled by a parent or guardian, and we use children’s information only to run the program.
Photos and video. HSP takes photographs and video of rehearsals, auditions, performances, and events, and we may publish them, for example, on our website, in printed programs (playbills), in program communications, and on HSP’s social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube). We use these images to show and promote the program.
We make every effort to honor requests that a student not be identified by name in connection with their photo. If you would prefer that your child’s name not appear alongside their image in anything we publish, please let us know and we will do our best to honor that. If you would like a specific photo of your child removed, contact us at [email protected] and we will work with you.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies for basic site functions, security, and analytics (Google Analytics). Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings; the site will still work, though some usage measurement won’t occur.
How long we keep your information
We keep participant and family information for as long as needed to run the program and for our records, and contact and newsletter information until you ask us to remove you. Payment records are retained by Zeffy according to their terms and applicable law.
Your choices and rights
You can:
- unsubscribe from our emails at any time;
- ask us what personal information we hold about you or your family;
- ask us to correct or delete it (except where we are required to keep certain records).
To make any of these requests, email [email protected].
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date near the top.
